In EU-funded service contracts, every expert proposed in a bid presents their CV in a common format. Evaluators can then compare experts section by section and score their education, languages and experience against the terms of reference. It is not the Europass CV, a general format for jobs and mobility: when the tender dossier provides its own form, that is the one to fill in.
The sections, one by one
Proposed position and category
The exact position in the tender (for example "Key expert 1, monitoring and evaluation") and the expert category it requires. Copy the title from the terms of reference word for word.
Surname, first names, date of birth
As they appear on your identity document: evaluators match them against diplomas and certificates.
Passport holder, country of residence
Your nationality and current country of residence. Some assignments set nationality or residence rules.
Education
Institution, period (from, to) and degree obtained, most recent first. The degree required by the terms of reference must be visible at a glance.
Language skills
Reading, speaking and writing, each on the Common European Framework of Reference scale (A1 to C2). The template's footnote recalls that level C1 at least is often required, shown by a certificate or relevant experience.
Membership of professional bodies
Evaluation networks, professional orders, learned societies: only those you belong to and can prove.
Other skills
Software and tools you actually master: data processing, mapping, project management.
Present position
Your current job and employer, or your status as an independent consultant.
Years with the firm
How long you have been with your current organisation.
Key qualifications
A few lines, not a page: the skills that answer the assignment directly, in the words of the evaluation criteria.
Specific experience in the region
A table, country by country, with dates. It is often a scored criterion: list only real, dated assignments.
Professional experience
For each assignment: dates, location, company and reference person (name and contact details), position held, description. The description says what YOU did and delivered, not only what the project did.
Other relevant information
Publications, awards, tools you designed. Nothing that does not serve the proposed assignment.
Mistakes that cost points
- Sending a free-form CV or a Europass CV when the tender dossier requires this template: the format is part of compliance.
- Dates that contradict each other between sections, or periods without months.
- Assignments with no reachable reference person.
- A declared language level you cannot prove.
- Experience copied from the project's objective instead of your actual contribution.
